Dental, Veterinary, and Health Care Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in our Dental, Veterinary, and Health Care Scholarship, which is being offered to graduating seniors interested in pursing a career in the health care professions. ​Since Dr. Ron's graduations from AUHS in 1982, the health care field has been very kind to our family. Because of this, we wish to pass along some of our success to other Shasta County students. The scholarship started as a dental opportunity but with the addition of three more "Dr. Zufall's" to the Redding area in recent years we have expanded to included all forms of healthcare and veterinary medicine. Dr. Andrew and Dr. Blake both graduated from Shasta and are happy to give back to their Wolfpack family. Dr. Lindsay, a veterinarian at Cottonwood Vet Clinic, made sure to include students who want to get into a career in providing healthcare to animals of all sizes.

A career in these fields offers a world of opportunities for professional interaction, personal growth, continuing education, and one-on-one service to people and pets in the community. These opportunities combine to provide a unique and rewarding work experience. Our hope is that by winning this award, you too will be able to pursue a career in the health-care profession.

Applications are available from the counseling offices at SHS and AUHS. Additional applications are available at the dental office or here on the website. Please have your application postmarked or dropped by my office on, or before April 24th, 2025 at 5pm. We will inform winning applicants of the final decision during the first week of May by e-mail. The $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to the winners, from each school, at your senior awards ceremony.​

There are five criteria for this scholarship:

1) A one-page description of yourself and why you are interested in pursing a health-care career (dentistry, veterinary or any other health career choice). Please include your possible plans for college and why you feel you are a deserving candidate for this award.
2) A resume of extracurricular activities in which you participate. Academic, athletic, and social (both school and non-school related).
3) A copy of your most recent transcript. Copy of SAT/ACT test scores. 
4) Two letters of recommendation from people we can contact for further information:

• One education related reference (teacher, principal, etc.)
• One extracurricular related reference (coach, club leader, church leader, etc.)

5) Current Anderson Union High School or Shasta High School senior.
